Sandilands Provincial Forest

Experience cross-country skiing at its finest when you trek through the Sandilands Provincial Forest! Groomed and maintained by the Sandilands Cross Country Ski Club’s outstanding volunteers, you can glide on over 35 km of single tracked trails that wind up and down Sandilands Provincial Forest.

There are eight trails (plus a connector trail), each with its own characteristics, difficulty levels, and incredible terrain. In the winter months, the high sand ridges provide a hilly landscape for more experienced skiers, while the trail’s flat segments are the perfect spot for beginner skiers or those looking for a relaxing, easy trail.

While you’re out, you’ll see wildlife wandering through the trails, stunning landscapes with Red Pine, Birch, Poplar Trees surrounding you, and glide on ancient glacial moraines.

To ski on these fantastic trails, you’ll need to purchase an annual Sandilands Ski Club membership on their website or purchase a day pass ($5.00) in Marchand at the General Store on Main Street (opposite of the Wilderness Gate Lodge).

Do you want to introduce your kids to skiing? With Sandilands Ski Club’s Jackrabbits program, your child can begin learning and developing their skills. They offer three stages: The Active Start Stage (5 years old and under), FUNdamentals (six to nine years old), and the Learning to Train Stage (ten to twelve years old).

Each stage is designed to be educational and fun and created specifically for each age range. Your children will have tons of fun while being introduced to the world of cross-country skiing.

After your cross-country skiing adventure, head over to Eva’s Restaurant for a delicious, home-cooked meal. Looking for a place to stay? No problem! Stay at the Vintage Lodge for a relaxing and restful stay.
